Managing Employees Salary Packaging

Introduction

This topic describes how to manage recurring deductions from employee pays through the salary packaging module.

A salary sacrifice arrangement is also commonly referred to as salary packaging or total remuneration packaging. It is an arrangement between an employer and an employee, where the employee agrees to forgo part of their future entitlement to salary or wages in return for the employer providing them with benefits of a similar value.

Ready pay (powered by ePayroll) provides an easy way to manage employee Salary Packaging through the Salary Packaging module.

Viewing the Salary Packaging for an Employee

To view the existing Salary Packaging items for an employee:

  1. Go to the Employees screen using the menu
  2. Use the search filters or the page navigation links at the bottom of the screen to find the employee if required
  3. Click on the employees name to view the employees record
  4. Select the Salary Packaging tab
  5. You will see a list of the Salary Packaging items that are currently configured for the employee (if any)

Adding a new Salary Packaging Item for an Employee

To add a new Salary Packaging items for an employee:

  1. Go to the Employees screen using the menu
  2. Use the search filters or the page navigation links at the bottom of the screen to find the employee if required
  3. Hover your mouse cursor over the Edit button next to the employee’s name
  4. Select the Salary Packaging link from the fly out menu
  5. Select the required Salary Packaging Type from the Select a Salary Package for drop down at the top of the screen
  6. Follow the instructions on the Superannuation Payments, PBI Employee Benefits or Salary sacrifice Deductions help topics to add the required Salary Packaging item

Editing a Salary Packaging Item for an Employee

To edit an existing Salary Packaging items for an employee:

  1. Go to the Employees screen using the menu
  2. Use the search filters or the page navigation links at the bottom of the screen to find the employee if required
  3. Hover your mouse cursor over the Edit button next to the employee’s name
  4. Select the Salary Packaging link from the fly out menu
  5. Select the required Salary Packaging Type from the Select a Salary Package for drop down at the top of the screen
  6. Click the Edit button next to the Salary Packaging item that you want to edit
  7. Make the required changes
  8. Click the Save Changes button

Deleting a Salary Packaging Item for an Employee

It is not possible to delete a Salary Packaging item that has been used to make a deduction from a payroll. Instead, you should update the Salary Packaging item amount or percentage to zero.

To update the amount or percentage to zero:

  1. Go to the Employees screen using the menu
  2. Use the search filters or the page navigation links at the bottom of the screen to find the employee if required
  3. Hover your mouse cursor over the Edit button next to the employee’s name
  4. Select the Salary Packaging link from the fly out menu
  5. Select the required Salary Packaging Type from the Select a Salary Package for drop down at the top of the screen
  6. Click the Edit button next to the Salary Packaging item that you want to edit
  7. Enter a zero into the Amount or Percentage field (whichever is editable)
  8. Click the Save Changes button
