The maximum superannuation contribution base refers to the quarterly wage earned by an employee that the employer is required to pay Superannuation Guarantee payments on. An employer is generally not required to pay super on earnings above this cap unless the employee's employment agreement states otherwise.

Long Service Leave typically starts accruing as soon as you commence working with your employer, even if you are a Casual or Part Time employee.The rate at which Long Service Leave accrues, when you become entitled to take it, and how much you get paid depend on a number of factors including which State you are employed in.

Important: You/your employee are not typically able to access Long Service Leave until a period of 10 years of continuous service has been reached. Periods of unpaid leave do not typically count towards the continuous service, although that depends on the State/Territory in which you/your employee are employed. The Projected Value is a notional value based on your's/your employee's current annual salary. The actual value of Long Service Leave is calculated when it is paid to you/your employee and can be affected be a variety of factors including leave without pay, changes in employment status and changes to salary. Long Service Leave is a complex area. This calculator applies the rules which most commonly apply in each State or Territory. For further information on the Long Service Leave rules that apply to you/your employee, you should refer to the relevant State/Territory body that is responsible for Long Service Leave legislation.
