Registering Your Software Subscription ID (SSID) with the ATO

From 1 July 2026, the ATO requires all STP submissions to include a registered Software Subscription ID (SSID). If your SSID is not correctly registered in ATO Access Manager, your STP submissions will be rejected.

This topic explains what the SSID is, how to find it in ePayroll, and how to register it with the ATO before 1 July 2026.

What Is the SSID?

The Software Subscription ID (SSID) is a unique identifier that links your organisation to your payroll software provider (ePayroll). The ATO uses this to verify that STP submissions are coming from authorised software.

  • Each ABN or WPN has its own unique SSID
  • You must register your SSID in ATO Access Manager before 1 July 2026
  • From 1 July 2026, all STP submissions, including FY26 finalisations, must include a registered SSID
  • Registration only needs to be done once per ABN

Important: SSID requirements affect all STP lodgements from 1 July 2026 onwards, regardless of pay day. This includes your FY26 finalisation if it is done on or after 1 July.

Step 1: Obtain Your SSID from ePayroll

ePayroll displays the SSID for each of your ABN pay points on the Employer Home page.

How to find your SSID

  1. Log in to ePayroll
  2. Navigate to Employer Home from the left menu or the Home icon
  3. Scroll down to the Employer Details section
  4. Locate the Software Subscription ID (SSID) field
  5. Use the copy icon next to the SSID to copy it to your clipboard

If you manage multiple ABNs, each ABN will have its own unique SSID. You will need to register each one separately with the ATO.

Step 2: Register Your SSID in ATO Access Manager

An ATO authorised person for your business must register your SSID in ATO Access Manager before 1 July 2026.

Registration steps

  1. Log in to ATO Access Manager
  2. Select My hosted software services
  3. Select Notify the ATO of your hosted service
  4. Search for ReadyPay Services Pty Ltd using the ABN 54 619 830 223 or name, or select it from the list
  5. Select the ABN link
  6. Enter your SSID copied from the Employer Home page
  7. Select Next
  8. Read the notification statement and select Save
  9. Confirm the success message displays

Important: The SSID you enter must exactly match the SSID displayed in ePayroll. You only need to notify the ATO once per ABN.

For full details, see the ATO’s SSID notification guide.

Step 3: SSID Automatically Included in STP Submissions

Once you have registered your SSID with the ATO, ePayroll will automatically include it in all STP submissions from 1 July 2026. You do not need to do anything else.

What happens from 1 July 2026

  • Your SSID is automatically attached to every STP message sent from ePayroll
  • The ATO validates the SSID against its Access Manager records
  • If the SSID is not registered, the ATO will reject the STP submission

Frequently Asked Questions

What happens if I do not register my SSID before 1 July 2026?

From 1 July 2026, the ATO will reject any STP submissions that do not include a correctly registered SSID. This includes pay runs and FY26 finalisations.

Do I need to enter the SSID when I process payroll?

No. Once your SSID is registered with the ATO, ePayroll automatically includes it in every STP submission from 1 July 2026. There is no additional step required during payroll processing.

Who is an ATO authorised person?

An ATO authorised person is someone with authority to act on behalf of your business in ATO systems, for example a director, partner, authorised signatory, or registered agent. Check with the ATO or your accountant if you are unsure.

Can my tax agent or BAS agent register the SSID for me?

Yes. If your agent has the appropriate authorisation in ATO Access Manager, they can register the SSID on your behalf.

I have multiple ABNs but only one appears in ePayroll. What should I do?

Each ABN is set up as a separate employer account in ePayroll. Log in to each employer account to obtain the SSID for that ABN, then register each one in ATO Access Manager.
